Title: Trade-offs of AI Systems: The Safety and Ethical Challenges in Modern Technology

Background:

Rapid advancements in large language models (LLMs) have accelerated the integration of social-technical systems, connecting with humans through various modalities such as natural language processing and computer vision. Humans create these systems to solve complex problems, to improve quality of life and to push the boundaries of being more connected, intelligent and responsive in this world we live in. Despite these successes, these models have the potential to perpetuate and augment harmful and safety concerns. We will be discussing the hard trade-offs between leveraging the benefits of AI advancements and addressing the safety concerns they pose. We'll take a look into AI safety research, AI regulations and frontier techniques in creating Helpful, Harmless and Honest AI systems.

Registration in advance is required.  No walk-ins.  Registration will close 48 hours in advance of our meeting
