Innovation has had two decades of software-centric methodologies. Project success rates are not great. The employee experience is not great. What makes innovation difficult is not software, so this should be no surprise. What makes innovation difficult are people – how we interact, collaborate, and compete with each other. Therefore, a people-centric methodology is not revolutionary. It’s just overdue. Your code will be just fine.
This session shares five topics (starting with “M”) that shape a people-centric methodology, the how and the why such a methodology is attractive.

Looking to do more with your AI knowledge? Consider becoming an auditor in AI. This session will highlight the auditing opportunities to utilize your AI expertise.
The learning curve of AI Systems developed, provided, or used requires many years of education and practical experience. For those that have achieved this or are in the process, what else can this knowledge be applied to? Compliance and Security concerns around the use of AI is rapidly evolving. To address this, ISO has released an auditable standard, ISO 42001:2023 and NIST has released an entire sector to AI which includes research, guidance, an AI risk framework, and the evolution of creating an AI standard. ISO has a competence requirement ranging in 3 – 6+ years of AI experience. There is an immediate opportunity for AI experts within the auditing of AI controls and requirements. The certification bodies for ISO have a massive competence gap. They are considering requiring an AI Subject Matter Expert ( SME) to accompany a less than knowledgeable auditor during client audits. Consulting companies that provide internal audits, also have the same gap. As standards and frameworks grow, so does the need to audit. This session will review the different requirements to become an ISO auditor, as well as other opportunity paths for compliance auditing for AI systems developed, provided, or used.
For those building, or intending to build, AI systems, it will provide guidance for what to expect when your system is being audited (that is, the key things they will be looking for).
This session is led by Sally Smoczynski, CISSP. She is the managing partner of Radian Compliance. Sally and her team provide consulting and internal audit for multiple ISO and NIST standards. She has a strong relationship with many ISO registrars and works in partnership to fill the competence void for auditors. Beyond other duties, Sally has spent over 15 years auditing various ISO standards including those for information security, cybersecurity and privacy.
